SEMO Slot Car Racing

Slot car racing is the hobby that provided a lot of the impetus for the beginning of Hobby World and remains an integral part of the great fun found here. We have a significant sized group of racers that get together every two weeks to do battle on tracks in four locations in the Poplar Bluff Area. We have two tracks here at the store and three other members have tracks at their homes. We rotate between the locations and have a blast seeing who has come up with the latest hot running car. We welcome and invite any and all persons interested in joining in on the fracas to contact us to find out the location of upcoming races. One warning though this is an addictive hobby!

Races at Chris' November 21st

Wow our regular season's last races were great. We raced all the classes we scheduled this year. From 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. we put the cars through their paces and gave each other plenty of trashing. Thanks to Chris Agee for hosting the race the "Slot Barn" makes a great place to race. This season we raced five classes were. Here are some pictures of each of them:

We made and gave out some trophies just for fun to celebrate the season's races. Some of these are ingenious; some are just weird. Here are a couple of pictures of them. You be the judge at to which is which:

So ends another fantastic season of slot car racing. We are already planning next year's classes. Racing at Tony's November 7th

Had a great time at Tony's Saturday night. Raced what we call our Crash and Burn races. 1/24th scale model kit bodies on H&R or Protrack chassis. A car on each lane and someone says go. If you crash you are out, if you get passed you are out. Last car running wins the heat. change lanes and go again.. The racer who wins the most heats for the night wins the race.
